Auckland Coastguard Air Patrol

The mission of the Auckland Coastguard Air Patrol is to provide aerial search and observation support to Coastguard units in the greater Auckland region. The Coastguard aircraft is used to patrol areas including the Hauraki Gulf, Great Barrier Island, Coromandel, Kawau Island, Bream Head, Kaipara Harbour, Raglan, Kawhia and elsewhere if a local resource is not available for an emergency.

ZK-SAR is a Cessna 182, owned by Coastguard Northern Region and is located at Ardmore airfield. The aircrew is made up of volunteers who are rostered on weekend and public holiday shifts. A flying exercise is included on each shift.

Speedy Signs Rotorua franchise owners Richard Haigh and Darren Burborough have opened the region’s first EmbroidMe store, combining the two shops as the only complete branding solution provider in the Bay of Plenty.

Darren says, “With some re-arranging of our existing location at 1198 Arawa Street we have combined both businesses under the same roof. Having both businesses operating from the same shop is a first for the Business Franchise Group.”

Richard and Darren intend to build on the success of the Rotorua Speedy Signs store, which they opened in 2007.

Tournament organisers for the seventh Rugby World Cup are forecasting that on the basis of offshore ticket sales to date New Zealand can expect 95,000 international visitors to arrive during the Tournament which kicks off in exactly one month on Friday, September 9.

Previous estimates released last year had put the expected number of visitors at 85,000.

“This is tremendous news and a real sign of just how big Rugby World Cup 2011 (RWC 2011) will be for our country,” said RNZ 2011 CEO Martin Snedden.

“The upsurge in support from overseas fans is a strong sign of confidence in our ability to host the biggest sporting event New Zealand has ever held.

“It also underlines what we have always said; that this Tournament brings multiple economic benefits to our country as well as providing a priceless opportunity to show the best of New Zealand to the world.”

SUBWAY Pro Cycling team dominate Benchmark opener

Sam Horgan had his biggest win racing for the SUBWAY® Pro Cycling team as the team dominated the opening round of the Benchmark Homes Tour near Nelson on Saturday.

Horgan won the 130 kilometre race in three hours, twelve minutes and sixteen seconds, 14 seconds ahead of team mate Ian Smallman. SUBWAY® Pro Cycling team riders also filled fifth, sixth and seventh positions resulting in the team comfortably winning the teams classification.

“The win means a lot to me as it’s my fifth year doing the (Benchmark) series after starting out as a real novice rider,” Horgan said.

“It’s great to finally pay back the faith my sponsors have in me. It’s my biggest win with SUBWAY® Pro Cycling. Ian took second but deserved the win just as much as I did; he was just so strong.”

Seventy two riders from 12 teams started the day on two laps of a tough hilly Upper Moutere course. The field threatened to split several times on the first lap until Horgan and Smallman counter attacked after a strong break by SUBWAY® Pro Cycling’s Jason Allen was caught.

Horgan and Smallman quickly established what was to be the winning move with Hamish Schreurs from the Benchmark Homes team. The three riders were joined by Darcy Ellerm-Norton (Team Cycleworkz) and Tom Francis (L & M Group Racing) and continued to build a lead over the chasing peloton that had split into several groups.

As the leaders hit the race’s major climb up Neudrof Saddle for the second time the gap was three minutes. Approaching the final 10 kilometres Smallman hit the leaders with a strong surge on the final climb of the day which allowed Horgan to attack off the front and use his time trialling skills to solo to the win over the last five kilometres.

How much do vehicle graphics cost?

File that in the Frequently Asked Questions, bookmark it and favorite it because it keeps coming up. I love this question because in answering it, we can really figure out a client’s budget, expectations and needs.

A wide-angle look at vehicle graphics gives us three levels:

1. Vehicle Lettering

Vehicle Lettering is the simplest and therefore the most inexpensive type of vehicle graphics. Note that ‘most inexpensive’ does not necessarily equal ‘best value’. These are usually one or two color designs that contain simple branding or information. Though it is the simplest option, sometimes it is the best. Vehicle Lettering Example: Black lettering on a silver vehicle

2. Vehicle Decals and Magnets

On the temporary side of this level is static cling decals, magnets and repositionable vinyl. On the permanent side is one-way-vision window graphics, logo decals and other full color designs. This level is where most of our clients fall. By using decals and lettering, we can provide a very cost effective solution for many businesses.

3. Vehicle Wraps
